I took this picture right after we got Hazel. This is what I refer to as the Honeymoon Period. She is cute, cuddly and so sweet. Really, what is cuter than a Golden Retriever puppy.
How is it that such cute, cuddly puppies grow up to be 80lbs of destruction. We adopted Hazel because we have such a wonderful golden named Martha, and we thought she needed a companion. Hazel is such a pest that that if she is in the garage, Martha will go lay on the deck. Martha looks at us with eyes saying “what did I do to deserve this? I thought I was a good dog”.
Now I fully admit, that like kids the more you have the less one on one time you have with each individual child/dog. But I really felt that Martha needed a friend. She was becoming obsessed with me. Had to be everywhere I was, and I mean everywhere. Enter Hazel. Talk about high maintenance. I guess like with childbirth we have selective amnesia.
For Today, March 29th, 2009
Outside the window…It is dark. When I look out the window all I see is my reflection.
I am thinking…It is really late, I need to go to bed but I am not. It is quiet and my children are in bed and I want some down time.
I am thankful for…That it did not rain today and I was able to take the dogs outside to run.
From the kitchen..It is clean. I did not have to cook dinner tonight and am grateful for leftovers.
I am wearing…My favorite wool sweater, yard pants and slippers.
I am creating…My website. I am not an old dog but I am amazed at how “confused” I have gotten on a few applications.
I am going…A little crazy.
I am reading…The Shack. The jury is still out on it. I am thinking that I raised the bar too high on this book.
I am hoping..That I will get a clearer idea about the new job I have started.
I am hearing..My dog Martha snoring.
Around the house…I have a lot to do. Lots of UFO’s and cleaning from a weekend of company.
One of my favorite things….To go to a yarn store and see and feel all the yarns. to be inspired by the colors.
A few plans for the rest of the week…I have 2 doctor appointments…YUCK!
My neighbor has made me this wonderful little loom. It is so easy to use and portable. I have made several scarves on it using chenille for one and wool for the others. I lightly felted the wool ones and gave them away. I seem to give most everything I make away to friends. Right now I am working on a scarf for a friend on Facebook. The yarn is something that I picked up at Michael’s, Alpaca and acrylic. I will not be able to felt it becuase of the acrylic content but I am hoping that they will full up nicely. It is amazing how fast it is. Warping is fast also. I like that. If something takes to long I tend to lose interest. I think that comes from having kids running around and having a limited amount of time to complete a project. Right now this project has been sitting unfinished for about a week, I started it at my son’s soccer practice and I think I had better finish it. I think the reason it is not finished is becuase I have lost interest in the pattern and the look it is creating. I want to weave something else.
